Every commission starts with a conversation. Before we design or build anything, we come and see you: we look at the space, the way you move through it, talk through the things you already love and what you feel is missing. We work slowly and by hand, but you'll always know what's happening and what it costs.
Getting to know you
Tell us what you have in mind, send us a few pictures if you have them, and we'll arrange a visit. We'll have an initial conversation and take some pictures and measurements. Back in the workshop, we’ll work out a few concepts, rough sketches to give you a the materials and shapes across some options. We’ll arrange a call to talk you through the options and a order of magnitude estimate.
This costs nothing, and there's no obligation to go further. We cover Bristol and the South West at no charge; anywhere further, we'll arrange something. The visit and first sketches are high-level: enough to agree a direction, not detailed drawings. The full design starts once you selected your favourite option and pay the design fee.
Timeline
These are rough timings. How long the build takes depends on the piece. We'll agree the install date once the design is signed off and the materials are ordered.
Week 0 — Choose. You pick the option you want and pay the design fee. We start the full design.
Weeks 1–2 — Design. You present the design and you ask for any tweaks. We make the changes.
Week 3 — Approve. You sign off the final design and pay the deposit. We order the materials.
Weeks 4–12 — Build. Mark builds the piece in the workshop. You're welcome to visit, and we'll send photos as it progresses. The completion payment is due once it's finished in the workshop.
Weeks 13–14 — Install. We deliver and fit the piece in your home. You make the final payment.
After that — Aftercare. You live with it, and we look after it. We fix any fault in our work for free, and repair accidental damage for a fair price.

What it costs
You pay in stages, so the cost and risk are spread across the job rather than asked for all at once. Each payment lines up with a step in the process.
10% — Design fee. When you choose your direction. We do the full design, that usually includes one round of changes.
50% — Deposit. When you approve the final design. We order the materials.
30% — On completion. When the piece is finished in the workshop.
